Fayaz Alam writes novels, essays and poems in Bengali and English. His work has appeared in The Daily Star, প্রথম আলো, দেশ পত্রিকা, Himal Southasian, Granta and a long list of little magazines that he treasures more than the larger ones.
Born in the foothills, raised between two languages, he believes that the slow sentence is a form of citizenship — a way of staying loyal to a world that asks us to forget faster every year.
He is the author of three novels — The Mapmaker's Daughter (2023), অপরাহ্নের ঘড়ি (2021), and Letters Never Sent (2019) — and hosts two podcasts, The Long Sentence and শব্দের ভেতর.
